The brand that was once known as Restoration Hardware is now taking a fresh approach to luxury by developing private jets and yachts available for private charter.
RH One is RH’s private Gulfstream G650 charter jet. The interior can accommodate twelve people and is decorated in RH’s luxurious style. This private charter jet is the first to use brushed European pale-white oak for its cabin. Over the cashmere, wool, silk, and silk floor coverings, charcoal linen covers the lounge chairs. The exterior’s champagne- and phantom grey palette surrounds the wood cabin.
Gary Friedman, CEO and Chairman of RH, stated that aesthetically it was important to remove as many distracting elements from the environment as possible. Friedman discusses design philosophy in a September 2020 interview with Architectural Digest. How can we create a cabin that is simple and beautiful, quiet and allows us to relax?
Friedman’s inquiry has a lot of purposes. RH executives will use the RH One to travel between flights before the RH One becomes available for private charter. Friedman mentioned that the luxury company is working on several future projects such as a New York RH Guesthouse concept, and a $105 Million real estate plan to create an Aspen community. The company also plans to open galleries in Europe.
The RH Three, a 127-foot expedition yacht was designed by Turkish builder RMK Prime. It was renovated by Friedman in 2016 after Vincent Van Duysen, a Belgian architect. The color scheme is compatible with the RH One and features wire-brushed Europan oak and Carrara marble, Italian Leather, lacquer and stainless steel. The amenities include a sky lounge and three sunbathing areas as well as an outdoor gym, a swimming platform, and a firepit.
The RH Three can accommodate up to eight people and is available for charter in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean. The RH One, and RH Two, a Gulfstream G550 jet, will also be available for charter via RH’s booking portal, World of RH. These aircraft are due to launch in the second half of this year.
Friedman said, “Nobody has ever attempted to climb the mountain that we are trying to climb…We do what our hearts desire with people we love and for people who love what they do.” Although that is a long statement, Friedman is full of ambition and confidence in his work. It seems that Friedman has a clear vision worthy of admiring, with a private jet as well as a yacht on the horizon.
